Focus on the
Vision

Seven Learning Disabilities
I believe that these stuff here will aid anyone tremendously, as at some point of our lives,

we'll need to get a job. This 7 disabilities are vito factors that can change the way you see
your organisation, and thus see yourself and your friends.
  • I Am my Position
is when people focus only on their position within the organization and have little sense of responsibility for the results produced -when all positions interact.

For example right now, in the airforce, at times i never felt that i'm being myself.
I have succumbed to the infrastructure, that is regimentation. I always say "yes sir yes sir",
but at what time does it come from myself. This drives my creativity rock bottom.
I have to think for myself . I am who i am.

  • The Enemy is out there
syndrome is when we focus only on our position; we do not see how our own actions extend beyond the boundary of that position.

I used to push the blame to something else. For example, my last IPPT test,
I did not do as best as i could've. The weather took the blame, the breakfast that morning took the blame,
my blisters took the blame. But all in all, nothing is to be blamed. Something is to be redeemed.

  • The illusion of taking charge
is that we should face up to difficult issues, stop waiting for someone else to do something, and solve problems before they grow into crises but proactiveness is really reactive ness in disguise.

If there comes a situational event, and i can't handle it. Don't wait and think
that your friend or superior is coming to save you. That was what i thought
that time, during BMT shellscrape digging.

  • The Fixation on events
leads to “event” explanations that are true for now but distract us from seeing the longer-tenri patterns of change behind the events and understanding the causes of the patterns to events.

Pearl Harbor was bombed, because they were too fixated on their current life.
A life safe from enemies. They thought this pattern could last forever. Little did they know
that the reason they are safe, is because no one had attacked them yet.

  • The parable of the boiled frog
is in relation to the maladaptation of organizations to recognize gradually building threats to survival; just as the frog placed in a pot of water brought to boiling temperature will not attempt to jump out of the pot but adjusts to the temperature and slowly dies.

China is an example of a boiled frog. A century ago, they were attacked by the eight power allied forces.
They got adjusted to their life so well, and thought that they were the center of the world, first to evole so fast. They were caught totally unprepared, and slaughtered to their deaths.

The delusion of learning from experience
is when our actions have consequences in the distant future or part of the larger operating system, which makes it impossible to learn from direct experience.

Some solutions take years to see the consequences

  • [7]-The M y t h of the management team
because teams in business tend to spend their time fighting for turf, avoiding anything that will make them look bad personally, and pretending that everyone is behind the team’s collective strategy.

This is what i've learnt

If i can practice these habits, i'm sure my future boss will like me.
If i can practice these habits, i'm sure when i'm a boss, my team will like me.

PERSONAL MASTERY

There are 2 types of Reality

Current Reality
and
Future Reality

Current Reality

is whereby you keep focusing what you want to get rid of,
Solving the problems in your life, and stay stuck in there.
See to believe.

Future Reality
is focusing on creating, progress and create the vision of yours.
Believing, and having that picture in mind.
Believe, to see.

Michelangelo
did not carve an angel, by seeing the rock as a rock.
He already saw an angel in the rock, and brought it to life.

Current reality is
When an

Event
occurs, example going to work.
and everyday you go to work, it slowly becomes a
Pattern Over Time
where this thing is repetitive.
when that happens, it becomes a
Systematic Structure
where this is what will happen daily, and you yourself know it.
you have succumbed to the circle of that life.
Slowly but surely, it'll turn into a
Mental Model
where it is your deeply held belief, image and assumption
of what you hold to the routine, yourself and your organisation.
How you fit in there.
Eventually, it forms into your
Vision
what you see yourself as, as an end result.

Now,

Future reality is
When you have a
Vision
what you wanna become in the future, what you see yourself as
and what you see the world around you is.
When you have that vision, it will slowly turn into your
Mental Model
where it is your deeply held belief, image and assumption
of what you hold to the routine, yourself and your organisation.

How you fit in there.
Then you will slowly learn to slowly progress to reach your goal,
dream and vision. When you start executing that plan of yours,
you will have a
Systematic Structure.
Keep doing it and it'll become a
Pattern Over Time
and slowly but surely, turning into the
Event
Where your dream comes true.

Personally, i believe that it is impossible to reach that vision of yours.
Because you ain't a future teller, you cannot predict situations. But what i know is,
you will come very close to that vision, because you have tried to
reach the stars, and even if you fail, you'll hit the sun.
Who knows you might be trying to hit the sun,
but reach the stars instead hahaha.

Lee Kwan Yew had a very strong vision of singapore,
he is a great example of this personal mastery.

I'll take alittle but more time to elaborate the stage from Mental Model to Systematic Structure,
because my visioning exercise had loopholes like these.

First you need to get your Mental Model right,
if there's a mismatch from the reality to mental model,
find out what the problem is, re-examine them and challenge the mental model.
If you've got it right, its time to execute them.
You will find a purpose of executing them. Why do you need to do it, ask yourself.
If you don't know, use your core values to guide yourself.
When you have that fundamental purpose, have a vision,
that picture of yours in your brain.
Then, develop a strategy to acheive that vision.
After you got a strategy, plan out your approach.
These strategy and tactic must align with your vision.
Break and overcome that barrier that is interfering your perfromance.
and reach the potential of new learnings.

-------------
I feel very lucky to get paid to learn all these.
This is the first time i've actually liked lectures in RSAF.

Now, its time for me to get back to developing my portfolio.
I haven't got much time to strike out my to-do list these few days.
But hey its all goood..
Gonna make sure i post some awesome drawings next week!
